Vintage Weekly: Western riding on an ardennes horse

035_32aVintage Weekly: I once saw this very talented lady ride western riding on her ardennes horse and took a few pictures. I am sorry I don´t know the name of the lady or the horse as it was a very impressive . I am reminded of the big horses that carried the fully armoured knights in medieval times. They were also big horses in order to be able to carry the weight of the armour. According to wikipedia the ardennes horse has its origins in ancient Rome and the horse has been used both as a riding horse in war and as a draft horse. I think this picture is taken sometime in 2004 and it is taken with Olympus OM-1.

    • Thank you! I find all horses lovely. And it was very impressive to see this horse ridden. We mostly think of them as draft horses but some of the horses that were ridden earlier in history were actually big horses. I wish you a good weekend!
