Lighthouse in Elsinore Harbour

17-2

This is one of two lighthouses at the inlet to the ferry harbour at Elsinore Harbour taken from the ferry between Elsinore  (/Helsingör that is the local name) and Helsingborg at the end of the 20th century. The picture is taken with an analogue camera on film and scanned by the photoshop that developed the picture.

On the trains to Copenhagen I always notice when the announce that “The train continues to Elsinore!. It sounds like something out of Shakespeare. The name in Danish and Swedish is Helsingör. The twin city on the Swedish side is called Helsingborg. And the “helsing”-part in the names of both cities seems the have its origin in narrow strait,  a “hals” like the passage between the two countries and the two cities. Hals in Swedish also means neck. And in Hamlet the city is named Elsinore.

Stable cat

008_08Looking through my pictures of cats I found this picture of a cat att the riding school in the early 21st century. Original picture on film and scanned by the photo shop. If my memory is correct this is a picture taken with an APS-camera. The cat is named Elsa.

Old and new on Malmö Stadion, Sweden

The old running track leading up the the jumping pit at Malmö Stadion looks like it has been retired for a long time.

The old running track leading up the the jumping pit at Malmö Stadion looks like it has been retired for a long time.

Malmö Stadion was built in 1958 and was first used for 1958 FIFA World Cup. it is an multisports arena and was the home arena of MFF. More information about Malmö Stadion at Wikipedia. The old running course for the jumping pit lies partly in shadow and looks very abandoned but there are much more activity when building the new football arena. These pictures were taken with an analog Olympus camera during 2008 while Swedbank arena was built. I share these pictures with The Daily Post Discover Challenge: Analog, with Shadow Shot Sunday and with  Vintage Weekly.

Ferry between Helsingborg and Helsingör

02-3

This is a ferry between two countries that only takes circa twenty minutes, ferrying people between Helsingör in Denmark and Helsingborg in Sweden. Helsingör is called Elsinore in English and if it sounds familiar it is where Hamlet lived. Well at least people in the play was supposed to live there. The picture is taken in the beginning of the 21st century, probably in june 2000.

It is not always easy

R001-026One of the last races for the season late in the afternoon in bad light and on a muddy track on Jägersro race course I took the last pictures with the Olympus OM-1 before I bought the digital Nikon. I wanted to try and catch as much of the race as possible and it is the horse closest to the camera that is important as it is my daughter´s first race as an amateur jockey. As I am quite nervous and the action on the track is too fast I lose my aim at this point trying to follow the horses thundering by. But I managed to take some acceptable pictures as a memory. The picture is taken in november 2010. More vintage pictures on Vintage Weekly.

Moonlight

026 My first camera was a Yashica TL-Elcctro and it was advertised as a light sensitive camera. Here is a picture of moonlight at Henån in Bohuslän, Sweden in 1971. The picture is taken with a hand held camera and it required patience and cramped fingers to stand still. The picture is a direct positive and usually was shown in viewer or on the wall in a dark room. More pictures on Vintage Weekly.
